CST Sponsors Super Bike LM in Brazil
7/12/2011Sponsored by CST, the seventh Super Bike LM was held June 26 in Lagoa da Prata, Brazil, with more than 260 athletes from various regions of the country taking part.
The 65-kilometer full-course marathon and 45-kilometer short course race provided the athletes with a challenging combination of land, trails, dirt roads, climbs, descents, a 150-year-old tunnel and even a passage within a river. “Riding in a little river was a unique experience. It was the first time I made a journey this way. It was something very different,” said Douglas José Luiz Neto, 19, champion of the men’s top category.
Even experienced riders found the race challenging. “In other competitions, I usually ride as an athlete of under-23 category, but I decided to venture into the LM Super Bike, and I enrolled in the top category, expecting a few athletes. But that’s not what happened. The competition was filled with high-level competitors,” said Arara, a rider from Uberlandia, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Awarded a US$500 prize, in addition to gifts, Arara already has plans for his winnings. “This is the first time I joined the Super Bike LM. The award was excellent. I ran with no sponsorship and a rented bicycle, so I will use the money to invest in a new bike,” said Arara.
The event, also sponsored and supported by Shimano, VZAN RST, WG Sports and High One, featured a live show with MPB singer Thalita Silva.
